Project Quilting 15 - 5

Wearables in a way for this week's challenge from Persimon Dreams. As it this week was possible to sew other thing than a finished quilt, I thought it was the perfect time to make a page for a quiet book.

Here she is, Miss Perfect, free hand cut and sewn. She's got dresses too. And maybe I will be inspired to make her even more clothes later.

Project Quilting 15 - 4

Hourglass is this week's challenge from Persimon Dreams. I made four blocks and found a nice background fabric for this project. A new hot pad is made, 7 1/2" x 11". The little mouse is studying the result.

Mini La Passion - a finish

At last, after about 10 years, it's finished. All hand pieced and hand quilted. And as this is my second La Passion, it won't be another. It's been so fun through all the 17 300 hexies. This last one has a size that I can handle and that I can hang up on my wall. But first it will be sent to an exhibition in Oslo next month. Size: 131 cm x 135 cm.

Here is a picture of the back side so that you can see the quilting, and some close up pictures to show the edge and how I did that.

If you like to read more about this project you can look here. And my first La Passion you can read about here.

Improv fish sewalong

I've wanted to sew improv fish for a long time. When I saw this challenge from @quiltsfromtheattic I had to jump in. I'm planning to sew one fish every day for a period. Here is my fabric pull and my three first fish blocks.

Project Quilting 15 - 3

Inside out, that's the challenge from Persimon Dreams this week. Just now I'm concerned about hexagons to finish my last La Passion. So the first thing I thought about was...... hexagons. And I try to keep these challenges scrappy. After digging in my black and white scrap bin, I found some fabric pieces to use for this project.

Turning the fabrics inside out, making hexagons and sew them to a piece of denim, also inside out, gave me this fun pincushion. And as I also love pincushions, this was perfect for me.

Circlequilt

Today I have finished my first quilt top of the year. It was started some months ago together with my friend Margun. Every year we're making a quilt from the same idea. Our quilts are almost equal, but also different, as we use different colours and ways of putting the blocks together. The circles are appliqued to a background of red and pink squares.

Now I will hand it over to my longarm quilter. Then it will go to an exhibition in March. I'll show you both quilts after that.

Project Quilting 15 - 2

New challenge from Persimon Dreams this week, sky colours. From my window I can watch the sky change its colours all the time. It's beautiful, and I can never get tired of watching. So I was inspired to make this quilt from my scraps.

My little quilt is 7" x 11". Enjoy.

Indigo Way Mystery Quilt

A couple of weeks ago we got the reveal of this mystery from Bonnie Hunter.  I still have some blocks left to sew. But I've started to join the blocks, and I like the result. I have made fewer blocks, so my quilt will be smaller than the original. I will make the border blocks after I have finished the center. During April I hope to finish this quilt.

Project Quilting 15-1

It's that time of the year again, Project Quilting with Kim and Trish on Persimon Dreams has started. The first theme is BIRDHOUSE. And as I still have lots of scraps, I'll go scrappy.

Outside my window in a tree I'm feeding birds. It's so interesting to sit down and watch all the different birds coming in to get some food these cold days. In the summer we have a birdhouse in a bigger tree across the road. So here it is, my 7"x11" little quilt made this week.

2024 Planning Party

I'm always planning for the next year, and I hope to sew a lot. Thanks to all quilters out there. You inspire me a lot. There will be things tempting me, and I often just jump in. As this year I'm also looking forward to giving some classes.

I'm planning to take part in Project Quilting at Persimon Dreams this year too, starting soon. It's so good to have deadlines to actually finish something. This is one of the things I finished last year.

I will finish my mini La Passion an have it in an exhibition in Oslo in March. The top is finished, and the quilting is going well.

I've started IndigoWay mystery by Bonnie Hunter, and hope to finish a smaller version of it during the summer.

This year I also hope to finish my long term project Norwegian Snowflake. I've not done anything with it this year. Now I have to dig it up.

I've had a dream of making a fish quilt. In February @quiltsfromtheattic is hosting a sew-along, and I hope to take part there.

I'm making circles just now, hoping to have a quilt during February. I don't really know how this is going to look like in the end, but I love the project.

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL MY FRIENDS AROUND THE WORLD!
