Blogger's Quilt Festival - Fall 2017

There are so many beautiful quilts to study in Amy's Blogger's Quilt Festival. I couldn't resist putting the biggest quilt I've made this year into this festival. As most of you already know, this is Bonnie Hunter's Mystery Quilt from last year. I'm already looking forward to seeing her next mystery, starting in November.

Blogger's Quilt Festival - Fall 2017

This year's Blogger's Quilt Festival by Amy is here, with so much fun. This is a festival where we can link up our favorite quilts and get so many new ideas from looking at what other quilters linked up. And there are prizes to win. So if you have a nice quilt to link up, you have to do it this week. Or you can just sit down and enjoy all those beautiful quilts by clicking the link.

My first entry is a quilt I made for my son some years ago. And it is still one of my favorite quilts, with the dramatic black and red colors. I borrowed the quilt and took it out for a photoshoot today. And luckily the weather was perfect for that.

Pattern: HSTs in 2 different sizes
Fabrics: Different black and red cotton fabrics
Finished quilt: 64"x82"
Quilted by: me

Island Batik - Back to School Blog Hop + giveaways

It's blog hop time with Island Batik, with lots of inspiration from all the Island Batik Ambassadors. All September you can find blogposts about different lines of fabrics, ideas, patterns and interesting stories about going back to school. You'll find the list at the end of this blog post. So just sit down and enjoy. And don't forget the giveaways, there are two of them. The fabrics you'll find in your local quilt shops.

If you just love beautiful batiks, you have to click Island Batik spring/summer catalog or Island Batik fall/winter catalog. There you will find patterns and good ideas of using these fabrics as well.

What I'm going to present for you today is the Rise & Shine line. Here are the bright fabrics I'm going to use.

As a teacher I know that pupils are coming to school as they are, with different background, shapes, sizes, colors, ways of behaving. That's why I started my quilt with different shapes and sizes. Then we try to give them the best of what we have, try to individualize as well as give them something in common. Hopefully they will end up with skills to live and work together in harmony.

There's a blogpost and giveaway from Island Batik here. I have my own giveaway too, and you can win squares of batik fabrics from Island Batik if you comment before September 29th. You just look at the pictures numbered 1 to 9, and tell me what's your favorite color combo. I'll ship anywhere.

Here's what you can win, 5" squares, 2 from each color. And I'll throw in some neutrals as well. Just enough for a long table runner or a baby quilt.

Aurifil thread is just perfect for quilting. I love this color to match the fabrics.

Aurifil 2350 - 50wt - 100 % cotton

Now on to the finished quilt. I've been visiting my and my neighbours' gardens to show you what the fall is like in Norway just now. Finished size 38" by 38".

Here is the list showing you where you can find great blogposts about these fantastic fabrics all September. Every day is also a new fabric line to experience. And don't forget the giveaways. Enjoy.

Hello Kitty

With several ongoing long term projects, it's so fun to do some smaller things in between. The last weeks I've taken part in #100hexies100days2017, where we make one hexie every day. I needed something to keep my hexies in, and made this little pouch from an old pillowcase.

Dagens sekskant og lagringspose sydd av et gammelt putevar.

Det fylles opp.

Her er alle 27 lagt utover. Prosjektet varer da som dere sikkert skjønner 73 dager til. Så posen kommer til å bli helt full tilslutt.

Vet enda ikke hva jeg skal bruke disse sekskantene til.

Pincushion Parade

It's that time of the year again. And if you don't know by now, I love pincushions.

On the blog My Sister Made Me do it, you'll find the Perfectly Pleasing Pincushion Parade!

You can link your own pincushions or just sit down and enjoy. I've tried to dig out some of my beautiful pincushions. Most of them I've got through Bea's pincushionswap. And some of them I made myself. You can find more of my pincushions here.

These pincushions I made for my fellow La Passion sewers.

Don't know if I ever will pin one of these.

A cute sofa I got from Bea recently.

Here the little pig is taking a nap in the sofa on a sunny day.

Some of the animals I've got through the pincushionswap.

All squared up.

Coffee and cupcake?

Different shapes and sizes.

Cakes with no calories.

I love to reuse old denim jeans. This must be my "ugly pincushion" entry.

This little flower in an Aurifil spool also wanted to be a part of this parade.
