Sikksakk igjen

Six new blocks, and the zig zag is growing. I have thougth of sewing a blue end to it to get it wide enough. But first I have to make it a bit longer.

Blogger's Quilt Festival - Fall 2014

I had to join in at Amy's Blogger's Quilt Festival this autumn too. This is so fun, and gives me lots of inspiration.

The quilt I'd like to show you was a challenge at Allison Lane Quilts more that a year ago. We used all our rainbow colour scraps. I quilted it myself on my little sewing mashine, and was happy with the result. Enjoy all the pretty quilts linked in this festival, and please come back after 1st November to vote on your favorites.

Høst

Denne nåleputen kom i posten for noen dager siden.

Autumn has come, and after a cold photoshoot out it was great to come inside to sit by the fireplace. This nice pincushion I got some days ago from Karyn. Thank you som much.

It's been a while since I joined hexies on my green La Passion. I can't dicide how to combine the colours, so I started with the black row. And I've made some new hexies so that I can try to find out of it soon.

September report for my little mini La Passion. Now I have to prepare some new hexies to find out what colour/fabric I will use on the next round.

Around the world blog hop

 http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-LdKzO8uc9dY/U_pEaavtTUI/AAAAAAABoT8/zHEjKG1DVQ8/s1600/world2.jpg

My blog friend Bea at Beaquilter tagged me for this blog hop. You may visit her blog and check out her post from last week here. I've been in  Bea's pincushion swap for months, and I've promised her not to stop if she won't. Here are two sweet pincushions she has sent to me. Do you doubt that she loves owls? Thank you Bea for inviting me to this blog hop.

If you don't know me I'll tell you something about myself.  I'm a Norwegian school teacher, from the far north, but living at the west coast of Norway.  Back in the 80s I started patchwork and quilting. I decided to make a quilt to everyone in my family celebrating their 18 years anniversary. Here you can see some of the quilts I've made and given away.

About fifteen years ago I started a hexagon quilt, and I was hooked. The latest years hexies have taken more and more of my time.

What am I working on?
The last months I've mostly worked on my hexie projects.  This green one has got 1/4" hexies, and I join two new flowers every month. I'll keep on as long as I have the green fabric.

This one has got 1/2" hexies, and is now covering a bed. You can find scraps from all my friends in it. I've started to applique it to a background, to get it finished at last.

These two quilts, 1/2" and 1/4" hexies, were started with the inspiration from Grit, who made the pattern. They are going to have about 17 000 hexies before they are finished.

Then I've started to sew these cute letters from Temecula Quilt Company. Really fun to do. Jump over and check them out.

How does my work differ from others?
I love bright colours, and black/white. And I often work with small pieces, the smaller the better. My quilts are often scrappy, and I also like to work with fabrics from old jeans.

Why do I create what I do?
I like to give away something that I made myself. Homemade gifts are the best to give. And I always ask for their colour preferences.

How does my creative process work?
I get much inspiration from other bloggers. If I see something beautiful, I can jump into my fabric boxes and start a new project. I love to start new things. Then again I'm not as much in love with finishing them. I like the process, and the calm hours I get when I sew. It's much better to sew than to do the housework.

I should have tagged someone, but I think all my friends have already written a post like this. I challenge any of you reading this, if you have not already been a part of this blog hop. Just do a blog post next Monday, and you're in. If you haven't visited my Swedish friend Eva/Bambi, you can always visit her blog for great inspiration. Every Monday she has a linky party too, super.

Welcome back to my blog whenever you like!

Slow Sunday Stitching

I've done two new flowers today, but you can hardly notice, because the hexies are just 1/4". And I found a box with some other flowers I made long time ago. I have a bag with appliqued flowers, and have to find it to finish this quilt.

Flere bokstaver

I like these letters so much that I started a new version. Hope to finish both the two quilts before Christmas.
